About Us
Tender Stones was developed in 2022 by artists Lucy Suggate and Charlie Ford. Both wanted to create a working environment that brought together their practices in visual art, dance, choreography, and design. They share a studio in the repurposed Wainsgate Chapel, nestled in the Pennines of Upper Calder Valley. Lucy and Charlie seek solace in everyday acts of support through co-working, skills sharing and testing how they frame and disseminate ideas and work in landscapes that are both bucolic and brutal.

Lucy Suggate
Lucy is a dance artist based in Yorkshire working in performance making, education dramaturgy and mentoring. Her work highlights how movement - dance - choreography can respond to the ongoing age of crisis and prolonged uncertainty, by focusing on embodied practices and the physical and perceptual shifts that occur when engaged in long-term moving and thinking.
Charlie Ford
Charlie is a visual artist from Greater Manchester working across drawing, choreography and design. In the studio he maintains a rigorous drawing practice that strikes a balance between delicacy and precision, paying close attention to placement and arrangement and considering the drawing surface as a space for movement.
